The theme of the exhibition in 2021 is ‘adapt’.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS:
Upon entering the 2021 Heart of Annandale Art Exhibition & Awards, artists agree to comply with the following terms and conditions:
Entry Forms & Fees
Artists may enter up to two (2) works each. The entry fee per artwork is $20.00 (non refundable). All entries by artists in Primary or Secondary School, or under 18 years of age, are free, however an entry form must be completed for each entry (and signed by a legal guardian).
Artists must submit the Entry Form(s) and Fee by Friday 2 July at 6pm.
Entry forms must be submitted online at www.heartofannandale.sydney before the closing date and time. For cash payments please email email@example.com or call Village Church on 9660 2444 to discuss how to process this payment via cash.
Entry is open to original artworks in any medium: 2D, 3D or 4D is permissible. This includes [but is not restricted to] drawing, painting, watercolour, collage, textile, original prints, computer generated works, photography, sculpture, installation and video.
Each entry must:
be the original work of the artist and not a reproduction;
not contain any harmful or illegal materials oroffensive content
be presented to a reasonable standard, undamaged and able to be safely displayed.
Preparation of Artworks
Artworks must be presented ready for exhibition ie. mounted or framed (if necessary) with appropriate hanging devices attached. The Organiser will not be responsible for attaching hanging devices. If specific display instructions are required these must accompany the work.
Each 2D entry must:
be of a size no greater than 1 metre x 1metre, including frame;
be framed or mounted to a reasonable standard (no clip frames);
be fitted with a method for hanging on a nail (e.g. D-ring hooks attached one third down at rear from the top and strung with picture wire). Any special display or hanging requirements must be discussed and agreed with organisers at the time of entry.
graphic/digital (2D) art entries must be in hard copy and fulfill the above specifications.
Each 3D/4D entry must:
be of a size no greater than 100cm in any dimension;
be of a weight no greater than 15kg;
be freestanding and/or come with clear display instructions including power requirements and equipment. If the artwork requires hardware this is the responsibility of the artist to provide.
For identification purposes all works must be clearly marked with the artist’s name, address and phone number, title of the work, price or NFS, and a gallery courtesy line (if appropriate). Labels must be attached to the base or back of the work and all details match those provided on the entry form.
Receipt of Entries & Delivery of Works
Artworks must be delivered by the artist or a nominated representative from Sunday 27 June - Friday 2 July between the hours of 12pm and 6pm.
Artworks are to be delivered to:Village Church, Cnr of Booth & Johnston Streets, Annandale. (Entry via Johnston Street)
The Organiser reserves the right to assess all works delivered to ensure adherence to all conditions of entry. If a work is rejected at this stage it will be returned to the artist and not eligible for display or awards consideration.
Entries must be registered online at www.heartofannandale.com.au up until 6pm on 2 JULY 2021, by completing the online entry form and paying a fee of $20.00 per work (free entry for artists under the age of 18 years).
Each artist may submit no more than two artworks. One unit counts as a single entry (e.g. a triptych will not be accepted unless it is physically connected as a single piece or unit that does not exceed the size specifications).
All entries must remain on show for the duration of the exhibition, from the 9th-25th July 2021.
ARTWORKS NOT RECEIVED BY 6PM ON FRIDAY 2 JULY 2021 WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.
Transport and Insurance
Forward and return freight is the responsibility of the entrant. All transit insurance, forward and return, is to be borne by the entrant. All due care will be taken in the handling of works however the Organiser accepts no liability for loss or damage during transit.
Please note: Village Church has no dedicated storage facility to store artworks beyond the dates and times specified. All care will be taken to ensure safe handling while on the premises however full responsibility remains with the artist for holding the necessary insurance to cover incidental damage to their work while it is exhibited, stored and in transit.
Selection of Works and Awards
All entries that comply with the conditions of entry will be exhibited for the duration of the exhibition from 9 - 25 July 2021. All works must remain on display for the duration of the exhibition.
Prior to the exhibition opening, a panel of judges will view all works entered and award one entry in each category. In 2021, the major categories are:
Heart of Annandale 2021 Award: $750 for a work in any medium that best represents the 2021 theme of ‘adapt’ in relation to the Inner West. Sponsored by the Inner West Council.
Heart of Annandale ‘Local Artist’ Award: $500 for a work by an artist living or working in the Inner West Council Local Government Area (LGA). Sponsored by the Inner West Council.
Heart of Annandale ‘Emerging Artist’ Award: $250 for a Secondary School Student (Year 7 - Year 12) or person under the age of 18.Sponsored by the Inner West Council.
Heart of Annandale ‘Budding Artist’ Award: $150 of art supplies for a Primary School Student (Kindergarten - Year 6).
The decision of the judges will be final and no correspondence or discussion will be entered into.
All awards are non-acquisitive and artworks will remain the property of the artist.
People’s Choice Awards
Visitors to the 2021 HoA Exhibition will be invited to vote for the People’s Choice Awards:
Village People’s Choice Award: $1000 for an artwork in the open/adult category, voted for by the public. Sponsored by Village Church Annandale.
Youth Choice Award: $250 for an artwork by a Secondary School Student or person under the age of 18, voted for by the public.
Children’s Choice Award: $150 art supplies for an artwork by a Primary School Student, voted for by the public.
The artworks receiving the most votes will be tallied by The Organiser throughout the exhibition period and announced at the Closing Celebration at the conclusion of the exhibition, to be held on Saturday 24 July.
Sale of Works
All works exhibited in the 2021 HoA can be for sale unless marked NFS, however The Organiser will not handle sales or charge commission. A price list can be made available to visitors based on the price given on the entry from and artist contact details provided to buyers to pursue purchase privately. Artists should be aware of the GST obligations and commitments to representing commercial galleries or agents prior to determining the sale price of their artworks and completing the entry form. If you require advice on this matter please call the Australian Taxation Office on 132 478. Price guides listed on the entry form are considered final and will not be altered after submission.
Collection of Exhibited Works
Artworks will stay exhibited until the close of the exhibition.
Exhibitors or their representative must collect works between 12-5:30pm on Sunday 1 August 2021 and each artwork must be signed out upon collection.
The Organiser has no capacity on site to store works therefore cannot assume responsibility for safe keeping of artwork beyond this time. Works not collected within 7 days of the collection day shall be disposed of at the discretion of The Organiser.
Copyright and Credit
The Organiser reserves the right to photograph works exhibited in the 2021 HoA for the purposes of documentation and promotion. All acknowledgement of authorship will be made when used for these purposes. By entering the 2021 HoA and accepting the Terms and Conditions, you agree that images of your work can be broadcast via digital feeds or printed for physical events by The Organiser. The Award recipients give The Organiser non-exclusive rights to use photographs in promotional formats such as announcing the Award winners on the event website, Facebook page, twitter account and Instagram application and in subsequent event promotions (with attribution). The Award recipients will not be entitled to any fee for such use.
Interpretation of Terms & Conditions
In the event of a dispute regarding the interpretation of the terms and conditions, the decision of The Organiser shall be binding on all parties.
No correspondence will be entered into regarding these conditions or the decision of the selection and judging panel.
The HoA Exhibition is open to all artists over 5 years of age. Youth Prize entrants must be aged under 18 years on 1 January 2021 and may enter up to two works. High school category is Yr 7 - 12; Primary School category is K - 6
The Judge/s of the competition will be selected by The Organiser and will inspect all entries. All decisions of the Judge/s are final and correspondence will not be entered into.
Artists may enter a maximum of two exhibits and the entry fee of $20.00 must be paid for each entry by the time of delivery.
ALL entries must meet the following criteria:

Nominate for which categories they are eligible;
be the original work of the artist and not a reproduction;
be in hard copy (no soft copies of digital works);
not contain strong or offensive themes unsuitable for our child and youth audiences.
2D works must be of a size no greater than 100cm x 100m including the frame, and must be framed or mounted to a reasonable and safe standard (no clip frames). They MUST be fitted with a secure method of hanging (e.g. D-hooks strung with picture wire). Any special display or hanging requirements must be discussed and agreed with The Organiser prior to the time of entry.
3D/4D works must be freestanding and of a size no greater than 100cm in any dimension. They must not contain any harmful or illegal materials or be heavier than 15kg.
The Exhibition is for the purpose of displaying the works to the public and will not involve The Organiser selling entries. No prices may be displayed on the entries. Artists may give consent in writing on the entry form to organisers providing their contact details in response to sales inquiries.
All reasonable care will be exercised in the handling of submitted works. However, no responsibility whatsoever will be accepted by The Organiser for any loss or damage to works while in the custody of the organisers or their agents. It is recommended that the artist effect suitable insurance cover for the duration of the event. By entering the work, the artist is taken to acknowledge that they are fully responsible for the cost of repairing any damage inadvertently caused to the works between delivery and pick up of those works from Village Church Annandaleand that the artist will not seek to recover any such costs from The Organiser or any associated parties.
The Organiser reserves the right to reject any entry or to not display a work for any reason, to limit the number of exhibits and to not award a prize in a particular section if the Judge/s consider that no work of sufficient merit has been entered.
The entry fee of $20.00 per artwork is not refundable under any circumstances.
The following entries will not be accepted:
Non original works (copies or reproductions),
works inadequately framed or with inadequate means of hanging,
works damaged on arrival,
offensive or containing strong themes not suitable for our child and youth audiences (as so judged by the selection panel), or
otherwise failing to comply with these Conditions of Entry.
Entries must be delivered, at the cost of the artist, to Village Church, Annandale, (corner of Johnston and Booth Streets, Annandale NSW 2038)
Artworks are to be dropped off in person on or before the 2nd of July (during the submission times of 12-6pm, or at an alternative date/time by appointment). Late delivery of works will not be accepted. Artworks not received by 6pm on Friday 2 July 2021 will not be accepted.
All entries must be collected by 5:30pm on Sunday 1 August 2021. If artworks are not collected by 7 days from this time, the organisers of the Exhibition assume possession of the works and may dispose of them at their discretion.
The Artist hereby indemnifies Village Church Annandale, its officers, employees, agents and affiliated entities against any costs, damage, fees or other liability incurred by any parties in relation to the entry and any exhibition of the entry, including claims of defamation, intellectual property infringement, bodily injury and/or property damage (including damage to or loss of the work itself).
By entering work in the exhibition, artists hereby authorise Village Church Annandale, at their discretion, to allow any work to be reproduced in newspapers, magazines, the Exhibition Catalogue, web pages, television or by any other media for the purposes of promoting Heart of Annandale and/or Village Church Annandale and/or Annandale. Should the work be reproduced, the Artist will be acknowledged as its creator.
The Artist, or any other person, may not remove artworks during the time of the exhibition.
